History of Westchester County New York - First european explorers in the area were Mr. G. Verrazzano in 1524 and Mr. Henry Hudson in 1609. The Dutch settled in the 1620's followed by the settlers of the 1640's. The very first census here was in 1798, it recorded the populations as 24,000 in the entire county. 
Today - Westchester County is a bit cooler in the summer months then Manhattan. It is the second highest income in New York location by per capita income of $73,159.
