Clinton Neighborhood | Real Estate Information | History
Welcome to Clinton New York, sometimes known as Hell's Kitchen or Midtown West. 538 acres of prime Manhattan real estate and around 45,000 residents. Although the neighborhood is just west of the main business district, Clinton has experienced large scale redevelopment and has been kept in check for more then 30 years by strict zoning rules in a special Clinton District designed to protect the neighborhood's residents and low rise character.
Many in the real estate or business arena would like to forget the name Hell's Kitchen, but the fact remains that many who live there and other locals use the Hell's Kitchen name as an endearment.
As a real estate example we have a 2 bedroom 2.5 bath condo with a study as well as wonderful skyline and river views it was listed at $4.4 million. Although prices seem to have gone up recently, Clinton is still mostly lower than the surrounding neighborhoods. A recent new development is the 1930 NY Telephone Company building at West 50th Street which was turned into a 51 unit luxury condo called Stella Tower. It is home to the largest penthouse and is being sold for nearly $14 million.
Many actors and actresses live in Clinton due to its closeness to Actors Studio and other Broadway theaters. The area was also the premise for the movie West Side Story.
